Ethereum developers have launched the Shanghai Capella testnet this week, which includes a Maximum Extracted Value (MEV) Boost that allows validators to access blocks from a marketplace of builders. This open-source middleware is run by validators as an implementation of Prosperity Builder Separation (PBS) for proof-of-stake blockchain supporting Ethereum’s network.
Network Upgrade Activated
The upgrade has been activated along with Devnet7 and the Zheijang testnet, with Tim Beiko announcing the dates and final client releases for the Shanghai activation on an All Core Developers Consensus Call (ACDC).
Long Road Ahead For Ethereum
Despite recent upgrades on the network, Ethereum still has a long way to go according to researcher Danny Ryan. Ryan suggests that finding a “sufficient end state” for a functional, secure, and decentralized blockchain may require complex tasks such as providing secure enough services for clients and users of Ethereum protocol.
Vitalik’s Roadmap Document
Ryan also refers to Vitalik’s roadmap document which outlines years ahead until completion of certain protocols. He emphasizes immediate technological concerns that need fixing in order to complete Ethereum’s roadmap goals.
